Rise to the challenge
Private. Public. Charter.
A wider world of competition.
Competition against private, public, and charter schools gives student-athletes opportunities to encounter different playing styles, test their preparation, and represent Landow with pride.
Whether preparing for a matchup, learning from a difficult game, or celebrating a team effort, the goal is growth: compete with determination, respond with resilience, and respect everyone involved.
Specific opponents, fixtures, tournaments, travel arrangements, and league participation are confirmed by the school. Landow’s published athletics materials describe an Independent Athletic League program; current participation should be verified.

Understand your role, prepare your equipment, communicate with teammates, and approach the game with focus. Preparation creates the confidence to give your best effort.
Respect opponents and officials, support teammates after mistakes, and take responsibility for your performance. Winning matters—but how we compete matters, too.
Progress starts in practice
Build strong fundamentals through purposeful repetition, individual feedback, and sport-specific drills. Technique is the foundation for confident, consistent performance.
Age-appropriate conditioning emphasizes movement quality, agility, balance, stamina, and body control. Training should match each athlete’s readiness and be guided by qualified staff.
Learn to read the game, recognize space, anticipate opponents, and make effective decisions. Practice connects individual skills with shared team goals.
Warm-ups, hydration, rest, and balanced nutrition support participation and long-term wellbeing. Athletes should communicate discomfort or injury and follow appropriate guidance.
Set achievable goals, learn from setbacks, and stay focused on improvement. Encouragement and constructive feedback help athletes build confidence over time.
Balance practice and competition with schoolwork and Jewish learning. Time management, preparation, and responsibility are part of being a student-athlete.
The student-athlete experience
Working toward a common goal creates connections beyond the classroom. Practices and games offer opportunities to encourage one another, celebrate progress, and learn what it means to put the team first.
Leadership can mean organizing a warm-up, welcoming a new teammate, or staying positive when a game is difficult. Every student has opportunities to contribute to a strong team culture.
